In case you've been living at the center of the earth for these past couple months there is a war in Gaza. The end of an uneasy six month cease-fire was the commence of devastation (the truce started June 19). The starter of the fight is confusing, yet at this point insignificant. Seems like a bunch of he-said she-said. Gaza militants attacked southern Israel... Israel started a cross border raid... Point is, 1,068 people have died from anger, and that is 1,068 people too many. Unfortunately, the consequences of this fighting is worse than a mere exchange of words.
On Dec. 27, 2008 (21 days ago) Israeli jets flew over Gaza dropping bombs that not only killed Hamas men, but also homes and residents as well. Innocent civilians living in their homes bombarded with destruction and fear. I saw on an interview on CNN that a father lives in Gaza and his daughter lives in New York. The father calls his daughter to know what is happening. I can't even imagine how scary living like that can be.
Hamas sneak in their rockets and maybe preparing for road side bombs and suicide bombers. Israeli bring in their tanks and 6,500 troops.
The talk of rockets, and tanks, and suicide bombers add weights to one' heart. Knowing this can mean the deaths of so many more.
Viewing the Mid East I always picture dessert with minimal housing. Even watching reporters stand on the outskirts of Gaza, they show a mounds of sand and no trees. However, researching Gaza shows neighborhoods much like the one outside my window. People strolling... houses... apartments... I thought this would be an important perspective so I want to post pictures of Gaza as well as the links that helped me write this.
UPDATE: War on hold.
